Natal, North East Brazil

Natal, north east brazilThe capital of Brazil, Natal is known as City of the Sun or City of the Dunes due to its long sunny days and beautiful beaches of sand dunes. The long coastline is divided into north and south, the south coast has a total of 15 beaches comprised of sand dunes and natural swimming pools backed by cliffs and coconut trees. The north coast offers a selection of 20 white sandy beaches, many of which are excellent for water sports, sand dunes as high as 50metres, natural caves and dolphin spotting. The resort at Ponta Negra offers a multitude of hotels, bars and restaurants, whilst Pipa Beach attracts nature lovers hoping to spot dolphins and turtles. Natal’s nightlife has something for everyone, with bars, restaurants, nightclubs offering a variety of musical entertainment and all types of international cuisine.

Natal’s main industries are fishing and the cultivation of tropical fruit such as guavas, mangos and cashews. The area also benefits from a complete lack of natural phenomena such as hurricanes, tropical storms or earthquakes. The climate is semi-equatorial with average temperature throughout the year at 83°F with 300 days of sunshine

Natal in the north east which was once the poorest region of Brazil, has seen prices rise 20% in the last year and with many new developments in the area, is now seen as ‘the place to buy property’. Because Natal is nearer the Equator, it tends to have a better climate than the south, fantastic beaches such as Ponta Negra and Morro do Careca, a lower cost of living, as well as being officially considered the safest state capital in Brazil. It also offers some of the purest air on the planet. With huge planned developments such as the 5 star Lagoa Do Coelho Resort which is set to become the number one resort in North east Brazil with its excellent location and superb facilities, coupled with fabulous beaches, Natal is set to take off in a big way.

One of Natal's beachesAverage buy-to-let returns in Natal are around 5 to 6 per cent of the property’s value, and the area attracts year-round tourism, with locals coming through the December-to-February holiday season, and European and US visitors in the summer.

The Brazilian government is intending to prevent over development in the area, and despite the area’s increasing popularity, hopes Natal won’t become as overdeveloped as European resorts.

Brazil property currently offers low prices and high returns showing excellent investment potential, but as infrastructure improves and the area becomes more accessible, prices will inevitably rise.
