You may spend hours browsing property websites on the internet, or looking through magazines, but this is no comparison for visiting Spain seeing the areas and quality of the properties for yourself.  It is important that you like the area as much as the property.

Many people prefer to make their own way around, and although an organised viewing trip isn’t for everyone, it does have advantages.  


Advantages of a Viewing Trip

Many companies offer free viewing trips to Spain for the purpose of viewing Spanish property, some will offer discounted 4 day stays.

With the right company, your visit will be based on your individual needs and budget. All accommodation arrangements will be taken care of, there will be no additional expenses such as car hire as collection is arranged from the airport, and back again at the end of your stay.

The sales staff of a local company will have expert knowledge of your chosen area.  Finding the right area for you is as important as the property itself so it is important to be shown the local region by someone who knows their way around.   A good company will offer you a full service from the initial viewing to the completion and usually an ‘after sales’ service. They can arrange for bank accounts to be opened, NIE numbers to be applied for, lawyers, and will negotiate with builders or owners on your behalf. This is the easiest way to buy, as you will usually be assigned a ‘rep’ with whom you can be in regular contact and who will sort out all arrangements, or any problems on your behalf.

The company will have advance knowledge of your requirements as they should have been corresponding with you in advance of the viewing trip to Spain. A good inspection trip is organised around your requirements and budget, making sure you get to see a good selection of properties that may be of interest you.

The purpose of the inspection trip   is to try and find Spanish property that you want, so much of the day will be taken up with viewings. However, you should make sure you have a couple of hours per day to yourself to enjoy being in Spain. You will need to enjoy being here if you intend to purchase a property and spend time in it!

Some estate agencies, or private Spanish owners may increase the price of the property if a foreigner interested in buying. On an inspection trip to Spain you will be given the prices already fixed by the builder or owner.


Disadvantages

Inspection trips are subsidised, and as the company is paying for either your accommodation, flights or sometimes both, they will probably not appreciate you going off to other agents whilst on their viewing trip!

You may be in a large party, some of whom are looking for a 4 bed villa whilst you are looking for a 2 bed apartment. Insist beforehand that you would like only to view properties within your requirements list and budget. If they cannot agree to this – don’t book with them.

Many people have heard of ‘bully boy’ tactics used on inspection trips, people being pressurised into ‘upping the budget’, buying totally unsuitable property, or being tied constantly to the sales advisor for the whole of their trip.

Large companies have to employ a lot of staff. Commissions on properties could be higher in order to pay them!

Your inspection trip will be tailor made, to ensure that every property you are taken to see suits the criteria submitted by each individual.

You will be shown the different areas where our properties are located, look around the general area and amenities, and visit as complete a range of properties as possible that are both in your price range and ones that you have expressed an interest in.  No unpleasant or unecessary hard selling - we believe that our properties sell themselves!

Whichever area you choose, your accommodation will be a quality hotel in the location best suited to your viewing requirements. 

At the end of your visit you will have become an expert on buying property in Spain! On the last day before you make your decision, we explain all the details including total costs annual costs, legal formalities, flight offers, furniture, letting potential, in fact everything for “YOUR NEW HOME IN SPAIN”. If you decide not to buy on this trip – no worries, you can have a relaxing evening before flying home and maybe try again sometime in the future.


Example of a Free inspection trip itinerary:


Itinerary Day 1

As soon as you arrive at the airport you will be met in the arrivals hall by one of our property advisers and taken to your hotel to check-in. After you have refreshed yourself from your journey, you will be collected from the hotel for a guided tour of the area and shown places of interest. Your evening meal will be at a local restaurant.

Viewing trips are free for buyers.   When you book an inspection trip with us, all accommodation and meals are free, and although we ask you to book your own flights, the cost will be refunded (up to 300 Euros) on purchase.  It is important that you are financially in a position to buy a property in Spain before you travel.
