Founded over 3000 years ago, Málaga is the Costa del Sol capital, where you will find more bars per square metre than anywhere else in Europe. Nerja is the most important urban centre providing much of the accommodation for tourists. Surrounded pueblos (villages), this town also has one of this area's main attractions - the Nerja Caves, which host an annual music and dance festival within its famous caverns
Torremolinos and Benalmádena are ‘hot spots’ with tourists and both have a thriving nightlife. Benalmádena town sits on a hillside and has the Andalucian style white washed houses and narrow streets, whereas its coastline boasts over 9 kilometers of sandy beaches, & a world class marina, a casino and a golf course. The six beaches of Torremolinos were a favourite with the early tourists to Spain and reached the height of its popularity in the ‘70’s. However, bad publicity reduced the tourism who now favour other areas and the coast has been left once again for the Spanish to enjoy.
The attraction to Fuengirola is largely due to the tailing off in popularity of Torremolinos, and it is now the most densely populated area within Malaga. There is much to see and do in the area, which has an excellent range of everything, including miles of sandy beaches, shopping and nightlife.
