The Costa Brava is known as Spain's 'wild coast'. Parts are still unspoilt by tourism, although it is one of Spain’s best know coasts, with sheltered coves and some of the most attractive scenery in the Mediterranean. It is lined with rugged cliffs, sandy coves and bustling holiday resorts. Estartit is great for scuba diving. The marina here is filled with luxury yachts and consists of one of the best sandy beaches on this part of the coast.
Every resort along this stretch of coast has a character of its own. The most famous tourist resort at the heart of the Costa Brava is probably Lloret del Mar where tourists have been visiting since the ‘60’s, along with the most southerly resort of Blanes and Canyelles Petites in the Bay of Roses. In Tossa de Mar you will find British-style pubs, late night clubs and lively bars, as well as its two unspoilt beaches, Mar Grand and La Bauma.

Away from the coast, you will find a very different Spain. Catalonia (Catalunya), is an area with its own ancient language and traditions. The climate here is a little milder than that of southern Spain making it an ideal resort for families.
Hot summers and mild winters make the Costa Brava an all-year-round resort and a sport fanatic's paradise. When it comes to boating, most of the larger beaches have access to boats of some kind. The clear waters of this coastline offer excellent opportunities for snorkeling especially the tiny coves that are almost impossible to get to. By far the coast's most popular pastime is swimming. In high season, the best beaches are crowded but between towns, you will find less used beaches that are just as attractive. Hunting, shooting and horse riding are also popular within Catalonia.
