Both Bianco and Bovalino have medical centres, post offices and banking facilities. Reggio di Calabria, the capital of the province, with its position on the straits of Messina facing Sicily and the stunning snow capped peak of Mount Etna, is an elegant and dynamic place to spend time. Driving from Reggio di Calabria to Bianco takes just over an hour.
The locals are fond of celebrations and throughout the year there are many religious feasts and festivals in Bianco. Some of the most popular include the Calici di Stelle on 10th August when the town celebrates its wine and hosts a wine tasting festival for everyone: the Fiaccolata a Mare on 13th August is where the men of Bianco head to the beach with flaming torches of fire; 15th August sees the Scesa procession of the Madonna di Pugliano move through the town to be followed by a spectacular firework display and on December 29th, the whole town feasts in the Sagra dlle Zeppole, and again on New Years Eve. In between those dates you will find numerous music festivals, outdoor theatrical offerings in the main piazza, as well as sporting events like the national triathlon trials and a childrens soccer tournament.
