For instance the port of Souda (Chania) and the port of Heraklion are quite important. Tourists often avail the facilities provided in the ports of Agios Nikolaos as well as Rethimno.

There are also three airports (Daskalogiannis in Chania, Nikos Kazantzakis in Heraklion and Sitia). Daskalogiannis and Nikos Kazantzakis are international airports that act as the two most important gates to the island, serving thousands of foreign tourists each year.
